Google Business Profile, done properly. The single highest-ROI move in local SEO.
If you do nothing else for your local visibility, do this. A properly optimised Google Business Profile drives more direct calls, more direction requests, and more website clicks than any other single asset in local SEO.

FIG. 05 / Google Business Profile in the local map pack
What Google Business Profile Optimisation actually does for your business.
Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is the listing that shows up next to maps, in the local 3-pack, and in the right-hand panel on branded searches. For most local businesses it drives more enquiries than the website itself.
Most profiles we audit are missing 60–80% of what they should have. Wrong categories. No services. No products. Three blurry photos from 2019. Empty Q&A. Reviews replied to once and then ignored. A Google post from the last bank holiday.
Done properly, GBP is the highest-ROI thing you can do in local search. We do it properly.
Every signal Google looks at
We start with the foundations: primary category, secondary categories, services, products, attributes, opening hours, holiday hours, the works. Most profiles fail here — picking a category that's adjacent to what they actually do, or omitting categories that would unlock additional searches.
Then content: optimised, geo-tagged photos and short videos uploaded weekly. Google posts every week using the right keywords. Q&A seeded with the questions your customers actually ask. Reviews replied to within 24 hours, in a way that signals quality back to Google's ranking algorithm.
Finally, signals: NAP consistency across the citations Google trusts, schema on your website that mirrors the profile, and a review-velocity flywheel that gets a steady stream of fresh reviews past the spam filter.
Three signals — and how we move all three
Google's local ranking comes down to three core factors: relevance, distance and prominence. We can't change distance — your office is where it is — but we move both of the other two heavily.
Relevance comes from how completely and accurately your profile reflects what people are searching for. We rebuild every field, including the under-used services list, with the exact phrases your customers use.
Prominence comes from review volume, review velocity, review keyword content, citation consistency, and on-page signals from your website. We address all of these — and the result is consistent map-pack movement within 60–90 days for most clients.
GBP isn't a one-time setup
Google rewards active profiles. The single biggest mistake we see is clients who optimise their profile once, then never touch it again. Six months later, a competitor who's been posting weekly has overtaken them.
Our ongoing GBP management includes weekly posts, monthly photo and video uploads, ongoing Q&A management, review responses within 24 hours, monthly reporting on calls, direction requests and clicks, and quarterly category and service-list audits to make sure your profile keeps up with your business.
Most clients see ongoing GBP management as the single best-value line item on their marketing budget — by some margin.

Do I need a separate budget for this if I'm already doing Local SEO?
No — we always include GBP optimisation as part of our Local SEO and SEO for Trades engagements. This page is for clients who only want GBP done, or who want to add deeper, more aggressive ongoing GBP management on top of what they're already doing.
How long until my map-pack ranking improves?
Most clients see meaningful map-pack movement within 60–90 days. Highly competitive city-centre categories can take longer (3–6 months); rural and suburban service-area searches often move faster.
Can a suspended profile still be saved?
In most cases yes. Suspensions usually come from category mismatches, address issues, or violations of Google's guidelines. We've recovered many client profiles from full suspension. Book a call and we'll tell you honestly whether yours can be saved.
Do I need a physical address customers can visit?
No. Plenty of trade businesses operate entirely from a vehicle and serve customers at their location. Google supports "service-area businesses" — we'll set yours up correctly so your address is hidden but your reach isn't.
What about Bing and Apple Maps?
We also optimise Bing Places and Apple Business Connect as part of citation work. They drive significantly less traffic than Google but cost almost nothing to set up properly.
